Welcome to my artist bio. This is the part where I talk about how many years I’ve spent mastering my craft. Except that is not my story because mastery is not my goal.

Over a decade in IT development has taught me the value of done over perfect, and of bankable competency in a broad range of skills over deep expertise in just one area. When vision joined with innovation births inspiration, manifestation is the only skill worth mastering.

I’m Sekelle, the chief artist and creator at J.O.A.T (pronounced G.O.A.T). My art philosophy is driven by continuous exposure to new ideas that spark an image in my mind, followed by an obsession with seeing that image come to life.

I love learning new creative techniques and finding unorthodox ways to apply old ones. I love the creative problem-solving of forging a new path, the thrill of not knowing if it will succeed or fail. I love the reveal, that moment when a viewer goes “How did you do that?” and then I get to tell the story of how the art was made.

Because at the end of the day, we want our art to speak to us, to connect us to each other through common struggle, to celebrate victory or grieve failure together. And I plan to use every medium and skill I can to create art that does just that.
